VfL Bochum Strengthens Its Presence in Vietnam Through Successful Football Development Program

Ho Chi Minh City – German Bundesliga 2 club VfL Bochum has established a strong and growing presence in Vietnam through its highly successful Football Development Program. Since its launch in 2021, the initiative has reached more than 2,000 children in Ho Chi Minh City and has contributed significantly to the education and development of local football coaches with their partner VJSS (Vietnam Japan Soccer Star Sport Central).

The program is designed to bring VfL Bochum and the Bundesliga closer to young football fans in Vietnam. By combining practical training sessions with innovative digital formats, the club offers participants an authentic insight into German professional football and its training philosophy.

A central element of the project is the regular digital interaction between children and current as well as former VfL Bochum professional players. In moderated online Q&A sessions, the players answer questions, share personal experiences, and provide inspiration, creating a direct and personal connection between the club and its young participants in Vietnam.

The Football Development Program is based on a unique training concept that integrates digital training sessions and educational content. It is implemented in close partnership with the local organization VJSS, ensuring professional standards and a sustainable approach to grassroots football development.

Feedback from the program has been overwhelmingly positive. Children participating in the sessions, along with their parents and local coaches, have expressed strong enthusiasm for the high-quality training, the international exchange, and the long-term opportunities offered by the initiative.

To further strengthen the program, licensed VfL Bochum coaches travel to Vietnam four times a year. During these visits, they conduct on-field training sessions with the children and deliver structured coach education programs, supporting the continuous development of local football expertise.
